Level 2- at least one previous semester of tap dance at PS 11 or other dance studio Tap with Susan Hebach's NY Tap Dance Central focuses on learning and exploring the art of tap dance. The goal is to provide students with a well rounded experience by developing strong technique skills, understanding how to listen and work with music and strengthening basic musical skills, cultivating creative skills, learning historical choreography and listening and dancing to a variety of music. All students need a pair of tap shoes to participate in this after school class. We will have a moderate selection of tap shoes are available for temporary use during class but it is recommended that families purchase shoes to fit their child.

For artists who are building their portfolio for their personal practice and for showcasing their work to prospective schools. This semester we will work with paint and printing techniques to create bigger individual expressions. Including: Paint; acrylic, water color, tempera , acrylic paint sticks. We will incorporate color mixing , painterly mark making and paint drawing for a long term project. following we will delve into printing. From simple screen printing to block printing, and other fun techniques. End of the semester we will create a personal final project based on each artists choice and skill.

This semester we will work with a variety of materials including clay pots, paper mache bird sculptures and pipe cleaner animals. We will make jewelry including seed beading and fimo clay pendents inspired by ancient Egypt. as well as wood sculptures inspired by Louise Nevelson .

This semester we will go back in time to learn about inventions. We will begin making a "cave" and learning about the first inventions of cave people. We will go on to make things New Yorkers had in their homes 500 years ago in Manahatta. We will conclude with the invention of writing, wheels and building wheel inventions and then delve into simple machines like pulleys, levers and planes

This semester we will continue our fall studies including making leaf field guides, bird models and woodland animal dioramas. we will continue with a geology study making rock boxes and beginning our own rock collection with special rocks.
